The aims are:
- Learn basic concepts—including precise definitions and statements of key theorems—about complex numbers and complex functions.
- Understand the basis for certain key results and methods.
- Develop the ability to do calculations involving complex numbers and complex functions.
- Learn a few instances of how complex variables are applied in science, engineering, and mathematics.
- Learn enough about Mathematica to use it effectively in dealing with complex variables and to be able learn more about Mathematica.
Mathematica is used as a tool for doing numeric and symbolic calculations and for visualizing complex functions.
