Exams cover understanding, calculation, and application.
You may use a calculator (but not a computer running software such as Mathematica). You need to show the setup leading to the use of the calculator. There may be short sections of exams on paper-and-pencil calculation skills where no calculator will be allowed.
Final exam: It covers the entire semester's work. You must take it. And you must take it at the officially-scheduled time, except in the case of official conflict.
The last regular day of final exams is Thursday, Dec. 22, but a snow closing could postpone an exam scheduled toward the end of the period to as late as Friday, Dec. 23. Make your travel plans accordingly: no make-up will be given to accommodate travel plans!

Mid-semester exams: These will be held during class periods. Each exam will be announced at least a week in advance. If class on the exam date is canceled for any reason, the exam will be given at the next class.
There are no make-ups for mid-semester exams. An exam missed for any reason will get a grade of 0. But only the best 2 of the 3 mid-semester exams are counted in your exam average!
In truly unusual circumstances you may be forced to miss more than one mid-semester exam. Such circumstances include serious illness, family emergency, certain University-sanctioned events off-campus, or a day of religious observance (about which you appropriately notified me). In such circumstances, you must present appropriate documentation in writing. Then, and only then, it may be possible to make alternate arrangements for the second or subsequent missed exam.
