Math 127: About OWL Homework

There are several kinds of homework in Math 127:

OWL homework login to OWL

This is homework you do through a web browser on the OWL Online Web-Based Learning System. (This is the same system used in Chemistry and several other departments.)

This OWL homework represents a significant part of the Homework & Quiz & Class participation 20% portion of your overall course score.

OWL will be explained in lecture.    See also the on-line instructions on how to use OWL.

It is essential that you keep up, day to day, with these assignments.

  • Each OWL assignment will be opened in the system approximately 2 days before the corresponding lecture is given and will be closed at a date listed on the assignment in the computer.

  • You may begin an OWL assignment as soon as you see it listed under Current Assignments on the OWL system.

  • Before each evening exam, the OWL assignments will be opened for approximately 2 days to make up for any missed work.

  • At the end of the course the OWL assignments will not be opened to make up missed work.

Your lecture section’s instructor may also prescribe special OWL assignments to be done before lectures.

Suggested problems from the textbook

These problems, listed on the Math 127 schedule, are recommended problems.  Ordinarily your solutions to them are not collected and corrected or graded, but consult the information about this provided by your lecture section’s instructor.
