Textbook: Number theory: A lively introduction with proofs, applications and stories by James Pommersheim, Tim Marks and Eric Flapan. We also be using the Online MAGMA calculator. You are strongly encouraged to download and install the student version of Magma; login information will be provided in class. If you are unable to do so, you may attempt to get by just using the online calculator linked above.

Homework: Homework will be posted here each Thursday and due the following Thursday. Assignments turned in by the next class will receive 75% credit. No assignments will be accepted after that. Each student is allowed one late assignment without penalty, although it must still be turned in by the next class.

You are encouraged to work on the homework with other students; however, each student must write up their homework entirely on their own.
