All exams are “closed book”. Calculators will be superfluous for them.
Final exam: Scheduled during the official final exam period. Covers the entire semester's work. You
must take it, and at the officially-scheduled time except in the case of conflict (another exam at same time, or Math 300 being the middle one of 3 exams the same day). Conflicts will be resolved following the
procedure in Section X of the UMass Academic Regulations.
Although the last regular day of finals is Saturday, Dec. 22, in case our exam is at the end of the finals period and there’s a snow-closing emergency, our final could be as late as
Monday, Dec. 24. Make your travel plans accordingly!
Mid-semester exams:
Each will be announced at least a week in advance. If class on the exam date is canceled for any reason, the exam will be given at the next class.
There are no make-ups for mid-semester exams.
But only the best two of your three mid-semester exam scores count. If circumstances require you to miss two of the three exams and you have a documented justification, then I may substitute a corresponding part of the final exam for one of the missed mid-semester exams.
