S140.2B FINAL EXAM INFORMATION FALL 2001

TIME AND PLACE: Tues. December 18, 4:00-6:00 P.M., Totman Gym. Section 2B will be seated on the left side facing the blackboard.

COVERAGE: The exam will cover the material from the course after the midterm exam, primarily chs. 6-8 of the textbook.

PRACTICE PROBLEMS:

Ch. 6: 2, 8, 16(a,b)*, 18*, 20, 24*, 26.

Ch. 7: 4*, 8, 10, 16, 20*, 24, 30*, 32, 36, 42*, 46*, 50, 54, 61, 62, 82*

Ch. 8: 4, 6, 14*, 16*, 18, 24, 26*, 30, 33*, 36, 40, 46*, 49, 50, 54*, 55, 56, 60*.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Most of the practice problems are even-numbered, so the answers are in the book. If you do the problems marked * and hand them in by Mon. to your TA, and, if they are substantially correct, you can make up for three zeroes on class exercises. Since the answers are in the book, just writing the answer is not sufficient: you have to show the steps (just enough detail so it's clear that you know what you're doing). Doing these problems will be good preparation for the final exam, but remember that the exam questions will go a little beyond the book problems (similar to the quizzes). Try to think about these problems in the context of the two general principles that we have discussed in class, one for CIs, the other for hypothesis testing.

REVIEW SESSION: A review session will be held

MON. Dec. 17, 2:00-3:15, in Morrill1N 329 (our regular classroom)..

This will be a chance for you to ask questions.

ADDITIONAL OFFICE HOURS: will be held on Mon. 12/17, 10:00-12:00 (or by appointment) for those who cannot attend the review session.
