Syllabus: This course is an introduction to ordinary differential equations. The topics covered in this class are
- First order linear and nonlinear equations, both with analytic and geometric methods.
- Systems of linear differential equations and second order equations. Forcing and resonances.
- Laplace transform methods.
- Numerical methods.
Prerequisites are Math 132, corequisite are Math 233.

Grading : There is a final exam worth 1/3 of the grade and one midterm exam worth 1/3 of the grade. Homework will be assigned weekly but the homework will not be collected and graded,
every two weeks or so there will be a quizz in class consisting of two questions simialr to the ones in the homework. The quizzes will be graded and they will count as 1/3 of the grades. In order to be successful with the quizzes it is imperative that you do your homework regularly.
Scales for letter grades:
A : 90 A-: 87 B+: 83 B : 80 B-: 77
C+: 73 C : 70 C-: 67 D+: 63
D : 60 F : <60
Exam schedule : There will one midterm exam and one final exam. The material covered in the first mideterm will be announced in time.
The final exam will cover mostly the material of the second half of the semester.
