Grade and Exam information

There will be one midterm exam and a final exam. These are common to all sections. Each section will also be assigned homework by its instructor; this includes online homework.

Grades are calculated as follows: midterm 30%, final 30%, online HW 25%, and written HW 15%.

Letter grades will be determined as follows:     A : 90     A-: 87     B+: 83     B : 79     B-: 75     C+: 71     C : 67     C-: 63     D+: 59     D : 55     F : < 55.

Exam policies

The exams are common with multiple sections. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring your Student ID.

Calculators are allowed, but no cheat sheets, formula sheets, or class notes.

Students may take make-ups exam only for accepted reasons, and with prior approval. In case of exam conflict, the Registrar's office determines precedence. Here's the UMass make-up policy.

Midterm exam

There is one evening midterm, scheduled for Thursday, October 4th at 7pm, at locations to be announced.

A make-up midterm exam will be scheduled, if necessary. If you need a make-up, let your instructor know as soon as possible.

The midterm exam covers Chapters 1 & 2: first order equations.

Final Exam

The final exam is scheduled for Monday, December 17th at 10:30am, in Totman Gym.

A make-up final exam will be scheduled, if necessary. If you need a make-up, let your instructor know as soon as possible.

The final exam covers Chapters 3, 6 & 7: second order equations, Laplace transforms, and systems. A table of Laplace transforms will be provided.
